Centan is a neighbourhood bistro situated on a piazza designed by Sven Markelius in the 1950s. After decades of neglect the suburb has witnessed a rebirth as Stockholm continues to grow faster than its ability to build. Our mission was to restore all the original interior details such as the wooden soffit and replace the floor with terrazzo typical of that era. The elongated black C is a mural painted by Barbara Stauffacher Solomon pioneer of the Super graphics movement. The bases of the tables are made of cast aluminium from a local foundry in Sweden including many of the furniture pieces that are locally produced.
